Operatives of the Ogun state police command have arrested a lecturer in the Department of Business Management at the Covenant University Ota, Dr. Stephen Ukenna for allegedly raping a 17-year -old student of the institution (name withheld). 

Confirming the development in a statement to Galaxy TV News in Abeokuta, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, noted that the suspect was arrested on March 11.

He added that the 41-year-old lecturer was arrested following a complaint lodged at Ota area command by the parents of the victim.

Oyeyemi added that the Area Commander Ota, Acp Muyideen Obe, swiftly deployed his JWC team to the school where the randy lecturer was promptly arrested.

He added that upon interrogation, the suspect admitted having carnal knowledge of the victim, but was unable to give any reason for his action.

Oyeyemi noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
