Police Arrest 23 Suspects, Recovers 4 Double Barrel Guns, 3 Axes, Others

No fewer than 23 suspected criminals were arrested by officers of the Oyo State Police Command for series of heinous crimes across the state.

The suspected criminals, according to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko, were arrested in their different hideouts and have confessed to their crimes.

Among the suspects was a gang of armed robbers that specializes in robbing Okada riders.

CP Onadeko, in a press release made available to pressmen on the development, said the suspects robbed him of his Bajaj Motorcycle and also inflicted serious bodily injury on him.

According to the Commissioner of Police, one Ganiyu Azeez, aged 31 years came to Mapo Divisional Police Headquarters to report how he had come across a group of hoodlums, who dispossessed him of his Bajaj motorcycle and inflicted serious body injuries on him.

Upon receipt of this information, a team of policemen swiftly dashed to the scene and arrested the said hoodlums, recovered the stolen motorcycle and the cutlass through which bodily injury was inflicted.

Another set of armed robbery suspects numbered eight were paraded for attempted to dispossess of innocent motorists their valuables.

She said the suspects were arrested on 2nd May 2021 at about 1000hrs, while attempting to dispossess motorist along Elekokan/Iganna road of their valuables, an action that was repelled by officers attached to Iganna Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with operatives of Amotekun Corps.
