Insecurity: Troops Rescue 30 Girls, 8 Cattle in Katsina State

The troops of Operation Hadarin Daji in conjunction with police has rescued 39 Islamiyya girls abducted by the Boko Haram sect at Dandume LGA of Katsina State

Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major Gen. John Enenche in a statement said the children were abducted when they were returning from Maulud program at Unguwar Al- Kasim village at Dandume in KATSINA State.

Enenche said the girls were rescued by troops who quickly mobilized to the scene after a distress was made to them.

The troop laid an ambush and blocked bandits’ route along Daudawa-Kadisau and road Sheme Mairuwa and Unguwar Audu village.

Enenche said, while patiently waiting for the bandits at the ambush and blocking position, troops established contact and engaged them.

He said during the fierce battle, troops' superior firepower forced bandits to abandon the children and the rustled cattle and flee in disarray into the forest.

The troops thereafter searched the general area and rescued the 39 kidnapped girls in addition to the recovery of 8 rustled cattle.

The victims have been reunited with their families while the recovered cattle handed to the owners.

He appreciated the locals and vigilantes for the cooperation in tackling the insecurity in Katsina State.
