Declare State of Emergency on Security - Reps Charge Buhari

The House of Representatives has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security in the country.

The call is against the background of rising cases of killings by suspected bandits and kidnappers in the country.

Their resolution came after a closed session chaired by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila that lasted for over four hours during plenary on Tuesday.

Rising from the executive session, the  House resolved to invite the National Security Adviser, Service Chiefs and other paramilitary chiefs to brief the House on the state of insecurity in the country.

The resolution was handed down by the speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila.

There have been reports of kidnappings and killings in the country and that has been causing fears among Nigerians.

A fortnight ago, the House invited and interrogated the Chief of Army Staff over allegations of missing funds meant to buy ammunitions to fight bandits terrorizing the country.
