Bayelsa Governor Attributes Insecurity to Over Politicization of Security Apparatus

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, says the recent insecurity challenges facing the country is a result of the over politicization of the security structure and other issues over the years.

Senator Douye Diri, stated this when he played host to the new Flag officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, who paid him a courtesy call at Government House Yenagoa.

He stated that insecurity challenges of the nation are having a negative impact on all Nigerians, and as such, Bayelsa State is key to ensuring crime and criminality does not have any political colouration. 

The State Chief Executive stated that the peaceful disposition of the state is a result of the robust synergy between the State Government, citizens and various security agencies operating in the state.

He, therefore, urges the people of the Niger Delta region and the Ijaws to sue for peace in their quest for agitation, stating that any form of insecurity will lead to underdevelopment in the region.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after his visit to the Governor, the Flag officer Commanding the Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Obi Egbuchulam, says the Nigerian Navy synergizing with sister agencies to ensure that the nation is secured.

He, therefore, warns criminal elements to desist from any form of criminality in the waterways as the Nigerian Navy will be all out for them.

Our correspondent reports that the Flag officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Obi Egbuchulam, who is in charge of the Bayelsa, Delta, Anambra, Imo and Kogi States respectively is the Eleventh FOC of the command.
