Auto Crash Claims Three Lives along Moniya Iseyin Highway

Three persons have been confirmed dead when one other died in a ghastly motor accident that occurred along the Moniya Iseyin road.

Among the victims was a lecturer at the Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State, Kola Oladunjoye

Our correspondent gathered that the lecturer was the immediate past Head of Department of Architecture in the institution. 

The identities of the other two occupants of the vehicle that were said to be staffers of the Education Trust Fund (ETF) are yet to be ascertained as at the time of this report.

Sources at the scene of the incident disclosed that the car was coming from saki but lost control and plunged into Ogun River.

Some sympathizers, including some security officers and officials of Amotekun who arrived the scene of the accident on time, removed the remains of the victims from the river while the car was badly damaged.

An eye witness at the scene said he was washing his car very close to the river when he heard a loud sound.

He revealed that when he turned around to see where the sound came from, the car has fallen into the river.

He said, “The car was coming from Saki end, three passengers and a driver. I was beside the river washing my car. Suddenly I heard a loud noise before I could turn around to see what happened, the car is already inside the Ogun river.

“Three people died on the spot, the only survivor, the driver has been rushed to the hospital. We pray to God for him to survive because the accident was serious.

The witness claimed that four persons were in the car while three persons died on the spot. He added that the only survivor, the driver of the car has been moved to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Polytechnic Ibadan, Soladoye Adewole confirmed the death of the immediate past HOD of Architecture, Kola Oladunjoye to our Correspondent

Soladoye in a telephone conversation said that the institution’s Rector, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi and the entire staff of the institution mourn the death of one of its best hands.

It was learnt that Oladunjoye and the trio went to Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki for an official assignment before they met their untimely death.
