The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has sent out an appeal to the Federal Government to establish a body which will be in charge of protecting oil pipelines across the states of the Federation.

 Comrade Igwe Achese, the President of the union made the appeal over the weekend.

He suggested that the agency be well funded and equipped with morden gadgets like alarms, sensors and helicopter gun-ships with night vision in order to be able to give the pipelines a close monitoring.

The Comrade commended the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for re-opening the Mosimi depot adding that re-opening the depot would enhance distribution of petroleum products to the South-west thereby easing the pressure tanker drivers do face on the Lagos axis.

He urged the NNPC to re-open the system B line so to enhance petroleum products distribution through the line.Nu
