Senate insists on NDDC board
The Senate Committee on the Niger Delta has been handed a two-week timeline to work on the budget estimates as forwarded by President Muhammadu Buhari for the Niger-Delta Development Commission NDDC for 2019 and 2020.
This was resolved at plenary Thursday after the consideration of the presidential request on the budget estimates which first read at plenary Tuesday.
But in clarifying on whom is to appear at the budget defence session, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan insisted that it is the Pius Odubu-led NNDC Board that is being expected to show up on a date yet to be made public.
It will be recalled that the matter on leadership has dogged the Commission which is torn between the Interim Management Committee inaugurated by the Minister for the Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio and the Senate-confirmed NDDC which is yet to be inaugurated by President Buhari.
