Fuel Tanker Explosion Patient Dies At FMC Abeokuta

One of the three fuel tanker explosion patients  which occurred in Abeokuta on Tuesday and currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta is dead.

The 42 year-old male deceased was presented with a 96% flame burn injury.

This was contained in a press statement issued in Abeokuta on Thursday, by Head of Public Relations, FMC, Abeokuta, Mr.  Segun Orisajo and made available to Galaxy TV News.

Orisajo said, on admission, the deceased alongside two other patients were commenced on intravenous fluid resuscitation in accordance with the established protocols for the management of burns.

He explained that, following the observed difficulty in passing urine, he was scheduled for dialysis but he died in the early hours of Thursday before dialysis could be carried out on him.

The Centre's Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu regretted the loss of the patient and sympathized with the family over the unfortunate development.

He described as very critical the 96% flame injury presented by the deceased.

Prof. Musa-Olomu while checking on the two other patients said they were in stable condition and responding to treatment.
