Chief of Army Staff Visits Gov Alia Ahead Of Inter - Formation In Benue.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant - General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, is in Makurdi, the Benue State capital for the closing ceremony of the commander corps of Engineers fourth quarter conference inter - formation and rowing out ceremony for some retired generals of the corp.
The Army Chief was at the Nigeria Army School of Military Engineering (NASME), North Bank, Makurdi to physically assess the operational efficiency of its troop at the exercise which culminate tomorrow Thursday 30th November.
The Chief of Army Staff who also met with Governor Hyacinth Alia, in Goverment house, said the Nigerian Army has taken a decision, and that troops will soon be deployed to Benue state to ensure the return of peace in Sankera and other areas.
He added that the formation of the Nigerian Army will work assiduously to ensure that peace returns to Benue State, and also facilitate the resettlement of IDPs.
Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, welcoming the Chief of Army Staff, Leutenant - General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja to Benue State, describing his visit as homecoming.
Governor Alia thanked General Lagbaja and his good office for having listened to him and given a prompt response to challenges of insecurity in Benue state.
He said Benue and a few other states are in the Frontline of insecurity and that the presence of the Army Chief in the state was a sign that peace will soon be restored, stating that Benue is looking forward to more of such prompt responses and wished the Army Chief and his team a happy stay in the state.
