Bill proposing six months imprisonment for persons who shunt or distort queues has on Thursday, May 1, scaled second reading in the House of Representatives.

The Sponsor of the bill, Kannike Kwara, said it sought to ensure that Nigerians conduct themselves orderly in public places.

Leading the debate during plenary, Kannike said it was normal practice for some Nigerians to shun or distort queues and go unpunished since they were seen not to violate extant laws.

Lawmakers further expressed optimism that if passed, overtime, future generations shall be birthed into a more sane society that helps to shape morals principles and respect for each other in addition to adequate awareness on what constitute nationhood. 

They said decried the prevailing level of corruption, indiscipline, disrespect for both elders and the rule of law in the country.

They noted that any nation that is not organised cannot have rapid growth.

Every school should have civic education in its curriculum to instill patriotism and orderliness in the country.
