Students under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigerian students have commenced peaceful demonstration calling for an end to the lingering industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities in Nigeria.

Recall that the student had last at a press conference held at the University of Ibadan issued a seven days ultimatum to both Asuu and Federal government to resolve the lingering impasse.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the students with placards of various inscriptions converged on the federal secretariat, Ikolaba in Ibadan for the peaceful demonstration.

The protesters with placards of various inscriptions, chanted various aluta slogans demanding an end to Asuu strike.

They decried the impacts of the industrial action stressing that they are tired of staying at home while their future is in jeopardy.

Some of the union leaders in an interview with Galaxy news called for an end to the impasse adding that the federal government and ASUU should consider the future of  Nigerian students and the state of tertiary education in the country.

They further accused the government at all levels of insincerity to education development in the country stressing that political leaders in the country are paying lip service to funding education.

The students are from various tertiary institutions in Oyo State and other parts of the country. They insist that the protest will continue on a daily basis until their demands are met by the government.
