World Number one, Rafuel Nadal made a Powerful start in his determined bid to complete a Career Grand – Stan by winning a 7-6, 7-6, 6-3 slugfest against Rusian Teymuraz Gabashill at the Us Open.

Elsewhere top Jeeded Caroline Wazniaki of Denmark made Chelsea Gullickson, brezing into the Second round with a 6-1, 6-1, victory to close out Tuesday programme.
