Sagamu Expressway Accident Kills 5, Leaves Others Injured

At least five persons, including a five year old girl died while seven others were seriously injured in a multiple accident which occurred at Sode ‎village, along Abeokuta, Siun, sagamu expressway on Sunday evening.

 

The accident, which occurred around 5.30 pm, drew a lot of sympathizes who stopped to give assistance to the injured victims, before the arrival of the Traffic compliance and enforcement officials. A call put through to the FRSC by Journalists, who arrived at the scene few minutes after the tragic incident was also responded to promptly.

 

It was a gory sight as sympathizers, who could not hold their emotion were seen wailing and calling for the prompt rescuing of the victims, who were calling for help.

 

According to eye-witness accounts, a black Nissan Almeria with number  KSF 803 CX LAGOS With a lone young occupant was reportedly on top speed  and  veered off the road to the next lane for vehicles heading towards Sagamu and colluded with a passenger Mitsubishi car with number ÉPÉ 925D LAGOS.

 

The on rushing patrol vehicle, with number LSR 470 BB, had veered off the road to avoid the clash and ran into the bush. 

 

The Mitsubishi vehicle and the driver and three others confirmed dead, while also the lone young driver of the NIssan car dead at the spot.

 

The rescue operation from the combine team of Federal Road Safety Commission, Traffic and heavy traffic compliance and maintenance agency among other led to heavy traffic on the highway, as people who came to Abeokuta for the Christmas and New Year celebration are returning to their various destinations.
