Ogun: Police Arrest Fake Army Major

A fake Major in the Nigerian Army, Afolabi Hassan, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for impersonation.‎


The suspect, who impersonate as an army officer, is now in Police custody and being interrogated on what led him to the act.

 

A fake major in the Nigeria Army, who identify himself as Hassan Afolabi is now cooling his heel at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ogun State Police Command for impersonation.

 

Hassan, according to police sources was reported to have attempted to arrest an estate agent over landed property he claimed was bought by some soldiers.

 

Our correspondent learnt that one Monsuru Akande, made a report at Ota divisional police station that the suspect, dressed in Nigerian Army Uniform was involved in an illegal operation, a development that made the police to intervein in the matter and the subsequent arrest of the suspect.

 

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Dsp Muyiwa Adejobi,‎ said the fake Army was arrested in ota by the police who interrogated him for wanting to dupe some people.

 

He stated that the suspect, was actually an officer of the Nigerian Army but was dismissed for his involvement in drug related offences stressing that, he was arrested for impersonation.

 

Adejobi disclosed that officers of the command from the criminal investigation department has commenced full scale investigation into the matter adding that, the suspect would be prosecuted accordingly.

 

‎ The suspect confessed to the crime and disclosed that he was arrested with a vehicle carrying drugs stressing that, he was not aware that the vehicle was carrying drugs.

 

The fake major added that he was dismissed from the Nigerian Army and that he regrets his action, saying before his dismissal in the army, he was on a salary scale of one hundred thousand naira as compared to his current security guard position where he now earns forty thousand naira.

 

‎Not only this, four suspects, were equally paraded by the police for armed robbery at different locations in Ogun state, while arms and ammunitions were recovered from them.
