EL-Rufai reacts to Aisha Alhassan’s controversy
Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai says Nigerians should not be surprised at the recent comments made by the minister of women affairs, Aisha Alhassan, noting that the minister has never believed in the political ideologies of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Governor El-rufai who said this in chat with state house correspondents at the presidential villa in Abuja on Friday, September 7, however remarked that Aisha AlHassan is entitled to her political views.
On whether the minister whose recent outburst on the 2019 presidential election has rippled controversy within the ruling party and whether she should still retain her position in the federal executive council, the Kaduna state governor said the choice to hire or fire is strictly the prerogative of the President.
Governor El-Rufai denied reports making the rounds that he intends to run for the 2019 presidential elections, noting that as a strong supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, his wish is for the President to present himself for re-election in the next Presidential polls.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai who is the chairman of the APC committee on restructuring said his committee is currently at work, collating views of stakeholders to deliver on its terms of reference.
