Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai has launched the use of electronic voting process, for conducting local government council elections in the state.

At a sensitization exercise held in the state on that method of voting, the governor said his administration is fully committed towards conducting free, fair, credible and acceptable local government elections in the state.

Represented by his deputy, Barnabas Bala Bantex, governor El-rufai said the intention of using electronic voting is to ensure that people’s mandate is respected during the local government polls.

In a presentation of the electronic voting machine, the chairman of the state independent electoral commission, Saratu Dikko Aliyu said the programme is designed to educate the citizens of Kaduna state on the use of electronic voting machine to ensure the security of their votes.

The event to unveil the e-voting system of the local govt. elections was boycotted by representatives of the opposition parties.
