Amaechi Blames Insufficient Revenue Allocation For Poor Development

Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum and Governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi has attributed the low level of development in some states to the dwindling revenue allocation from federation account.

The governor, who stated this at a forum in Ado Ekiti, said the continuous deduction of the federal allocation is affecting social development.

Amaechi said governors have the responsibilities of ensuring that the populace benefits from what Nigerians refers to as democracy dividends.
He said with the present situation, some governors are barely managing to pay salaries while others still owe workers.

He urged his colleagues to rise up to the challenges of corruption, impunity and violation of human rights which had eaten deep into the nation's fabrics.

Amaechi also lashed out at the members of the President's Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria for failing to ensure the transformation agenda is patterned to meet the yearnings of the
people.

He said he is not expecting anything outstanding from TAN, since they are only supporting the President to cover up their alleged involvement in the multi-billion dollars subsidy scam.
