Ogun state new Speaker react to the House move on impeachment of Egbetokun

The new Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Soyemi Coker has justified the action of the 9 Members of the State House of Assembly that impeached the former Speaker, Hon, Tunji Egbetokun saying what they have done was according to law guiding the operation of the House.

Hon. Coker who made the disclosure at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abeokuta said the decision was borne out of the need to free Ogun state from the grip of few individuals.

Addressing Members and Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta, the new Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Soyemi Coker commended the People of the State for the loyalty and support since the new Leaders of the Assembly came on board.
Hon. Coker who was in company of other Leaders of the Assembly said the change in the Leadership structure was necessitated by the need to free Ogun State from the grips of few People that are being in sponsored by some faceless and expired PDP Leaders within and
outside the State whose main concern was their Personal selfishness and ambition for Political offices in 2011 through undemocratic and crude means. He added that the 9 Lawmakers that impeached the Speaker had made several overtures to the Leadership of the House on the need to reconcile with the Executives Arm of Government in the State adding that all their pleas fell on deaf ears.

Hon. Coker said the decision took by the 9 progressive lawmakers was legal adding that the decision was in the best interest of the good People of Ogun State adding that the position of the Egbetokun led Leadership of the House was undemocratic and has jeopardize the Economic Development of Ogun State.
He maintained that the new Leadership of the House has come to State
and therefore called for the support of the PDP Leaders and Members in Ogun State for the socio-economic development in the State.

Coker stressed that the new Leadership of the House would do everything possible to promote peace and harmony between the tree
Arms of Government in the State.
Earlier in his remark, the Secretary of the PDP in Ogun State, Chief Pegba Otemolu commended the initiative of the Lawmakers whom he said have liberated the People of the State from backwardness and stagnation adding that the Leadership of the Party was solidly

behind them. Other Leaders of the Assembly that spoke at the Party also justified
their decision saying there was no going back.
