Oyo declares 3-day mourning for late speaker

Oyo state government has described the death of speaker of the state House of Assembly, Michael Adeyemo as sudden and a tragic loss to the people of the state.


The government has therefore declared a three day mourning period starting from Monday, April 30th to Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

This is the mood at the department of anatomy, University of Ibadan, where the remains of the speaker, late Michael Adeyemo have been deposited after an autopsy which confirmed that he died of heart attack.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who rushed into Ibadan from an official assignment led members of the state executive council and other officials to the premises of the University of Ibadan where he was briefed by the commissioner for health, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan on the cause of the speaker’s death.

Ajimobi described the deceased as a gentleman and a bridge builder, who was committed to the development and progress of the state.

On his part, the chief judge of Oyo state, Justice Munta Abimbola says the late speaker contributed to the development of the judiciary in Oyo state and Nigeria as a  whole.

Also, the chairman house committee on information of the state assembly, hon. Joshua Oyebamiji says the house has lost a great leader in late Adeyemo.
