Osun begins payment of salary arrears
Osun state government says it has released total sum of 19.8 billionnaira to clear four months salaries arrears, pension and leave bonuses.
This is coming barely Ten days to Osun state gubernatorial election, and four days into a seven-day warning strike embarked on by the state workers in demanding payment of full salaries and arrears.
The commissioner for finance, Bola Oyebamiji said the payment has no political undertone but just a coincidence.
He equally stated that 80% of the state revenue from the inception of the present administration has been expended on payment of workers and pensioners salaries and emoluments.
He noted that an increase in the crude oil price in the international market provide the succor to the states, saying with this development the state government will able to continue with full payment of salaries and pensions.
Correspondent, Adeola Aderibigbe reports that government said workers will soon receive alert, as it will take some hours in the bank for disbursing to the workers.
