Ogun cautions against structures along waterways
Ogun State government has warned residents of the state and those planning to build in the state to be conscious of the area where they intend to erect their structures, as the state will not issue building approvals or certificate of occupancy to owners of buildings on waterways, riverbanks, gully among others.
The Commissioner for Environment in the State, Bolaji Oyeleye made this known in Abeokuta while distributing certificate of occupancy to the new set of beneficiaries of the state Home Owners Scheme.
Oyeleye said the sad experience of flash flooding that the state experienced this year should serve as a warning to those planning to build houses in erosion-prone areas in the state.
He said the state will always take the safety of the people seriously and will strive to make the state more conducive for residents and tourists.
