Lawmakers decry herdsmen activities

Lawmakers at the Oyo state House of Assembly have raised alarm over the increasing threat to lives and property of residents of the state, especially those living in Oke Ogun axis of Oyo state, by suspected herdsmen.


Speaking under matter of urgent public Importance, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Musah Abdulwashi from Saki-west state constituency said the issue of Fulani herdsmen has assumed a frightening dimension hence the need for the state government to be proactive.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that other lawmakers in their contributions to the motion stressed the need for the state government to strengthen the vigilante groups in all the local government areas for the protection of lives and property of the people.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Micheal Adeyemo urged the executive arm of government in the state to liase with the federal government for proper action in this regard.

It will be recalled that officer in charge of Oyo State Anti Robbery Squad, Saki Unit was murdered last week by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
