Lawmaker canvasses support over Senate seat

A member of the National Assembly, representing Uvwie, Okpe and Sapele constituency in the house of representatives, Hon. Evelyn Oboro has promised to act as the messenger to her constituency while calling on the people of Delta Central to vote her into the Senate come 2019.

The lawmaker made the appeal at Orerokpe in Okpe local government area of Delta state, during a visit to the speaker of the Delta state House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Oborewori.

Addressing party leaders and the speaker, the House of Representative member disassociated herself from the belief that women cannot represent the Urhobo's in the Senate.

Speaking further, she expressed confidence being the first lawmaker from the Urhobo ethnic nationality in the house of Representative.

It will be recalled that some groups have been working to scuttle the ambition of the lawmaker claiming they do not want a woman at the Senate, but being the first female Rep in the National assembly is an added advantage.
