INEC denies ending voter registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked the report making rounds and suggesting that it has concluded arrangements to end the ongoing voters' registration in January 31st.

The new resident electoral commissioner in Oyo state, Barrister Mutiu Aghoke while addressing officials of the commission and Journalists in Ibadan, said the commission would ensure that all qualified Nigerians are captured in the exercise.

He stated that preparation for the 2019 general elections is being intensified by the commission, calling on all Nigerians irrespective of their party affiliations, to continue to support the commission.

However, the administrative secretary of the commission, Alhaji Surajudeen Junaid, disclosed that the commission has been operating without a resident electoral commissioner for over two years.

The highpoint of the meetings was the formal handing over to the new Resident Electoral Commissioner, by the Administrative Secretary.
