Heavy flood takes over Jos roads

A 2-hour heavy downpour of Wednesday, June 14, has caused residents in Jos, the Plateau state capital, to suffer massive flooding in their homes.


Residents of Dung, Rikoss, Tudun Wada and others is Jos, the Plateau state capital said their houses where flooded with water during the rain, while roads in Ahmadu bello way and Rayfield where over flooded, making it difficult for motorist to move.

While recounting their losses, resident of Dung village said the devastation of the flood would have been minimal if the drainages where in good shape. They called on the relevant authorities to ensure that the drainages are cleared of debris that could prevent the free flow of water.

Other residents of the area, Nancy Mangs and Keneng Ocheja said the flood was so massive such that it brought down some houses in some areas.

They lamented that their property where lost in the flood, but expressed gratitude that no life was lost. Nancy Mangs said she and her children had to change their location when they realized that the flood had entered their house.

The devastation of flash floods has remained a reoccurring decimal in Plateau state due to blockage of drainages and erection of building on water ways

Meanwhile, Tens of streets and over a hundred homes in the Warri south local government area of Delta state have been flooded after the early morning downpour of Wednesday, June 14.
