A ranked police officer has been killed while a minute number of persons have been injured after the convoy belonging to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nsima. U. Ekere was hit by a trailer.

While his entourage sustained various degrees of injuries, Ekere narrowly escaped his death during the accident.

A statement signed by the director of corporate affairs, Toye Abosede, the accident occurred along the Calabar-Itu road on Thursday, May 1.

The incident happened when the NDDC boss was plying the Calabar-Itu road to Calabar to receive the acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Those injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital where they are receiving treatment for injuries sustained.
