The Nigerian Television Fashion Show

Posted: Thu, 2nd Sep 2010 by Ladidi Yunisa

The Nigerian Television Fashion Show, is one of the numerous programmes on Galaxy Television. It is the best and oldest African Fashion programme on TV.

The Nigerian Television Fashion Show is aimed at exposing and celebrating the creativity of Nigerian and African designers through the use of local fabrics and in so doing, project the Nigerian and invariably the African culture to the world.

The Nigerian Television Fashion Show started over five years ago at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja Lagos, with 18 designers and 65 models and was later moved to Water Parks on Toyin Street, Ikeja. We have now repackaged the NTFS in order to take this event beyond the shores of Nigeria and Africa to an International audience.

NTFS is now staged live on a quarterly basis. Top African and Nigerian designers exhibit at least 30 of their best designs. Nollywood Worldwide Entertainment, which is a sister company to Galaxy television, under   which the NTFS is being packaged, grooms at least sixty models to display these designs to a live audience of about 2,000 to 3,000.

A minimum of 10 designers are showcased on each NTFS event.

After the recording of the event, each designer’s work is edited to a 30minute

Fashion & Style programme and syndicated on 8 Television stations across

Nigeria (under Nollywood Worldwide Entertainments Platform). The final work

that goes on air is a juxtaposition of runway catwalk, model interviews, makeup

and musical performances by popular music artists and comedians.

The first edition of the NTFS Reloaded was held on the 18th, of April, 2010,

at the external ball room of the prestigious Federal Palace Hotel, this has recently been rebranded for better service and impeccably tailored to an international standard.

The event was a huge success with the crème de la crème of the Lagos society in attendance.
