Samsung Admits There Will Be A Better Version Of Galaxy s5

Many reports detailed not one but two Galaxy S5 smartphone models including a “Standard” and a “Prime” version, but the company only unveiled a single model during its MWC 2014 press event. Curiously, Samsung only listed one processor choice for the Galaxy S5 in its press release, a 2.5GHz quad-core CPU of unspecified origin, even though with the previous Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 the company had two processor options for each phone. But the Galaxy S5 will also get an octa-core processor version as well, a recently discovered graphic has revealed.

According’s to Samsung’s own image, which was pulled since being initially published, the Galaxy S5 offers two processor choices including the 2.5GHz quad-core CPU mentioned in the press materials, but also a 2.1GHz octa-core processor, possibly a new Exynos version.

However, Samsung felt compelled to keep the processor a secret so far. Comparatively, in the Galaxy S4 press release the company has clearly specified the two CPU options for the handset, although in similar materials for the Galaxy S3 it did not mention processor or memory choices.

It’s not known what kind of processor the 2.1GHz octa-core CPU is, and Samsung is yet to unveil new Exynos mobile processors. The company teased Exynos announcements before both CES 2014 and MWC, although it didn’t unveil new CPUs. At this time, it’s not clear when the octa-core Galaxy S5 will be unveiled and whether the second handset version will also have other specs compared with the 2.5GHz Galaxy S5 model.
