Some nails infections include nail fungus, herpes, bacterial infections and even warts. When next, make sure your salon do the following and know what to watch out for.
- Check into proper sterilization techniques: Many salons use some sterilizers to sterilize tools that may not even kill these bacteria. The best way to sterilize tools is with a disinfectant. Disinfectant is the turquoise-coloured water in glasses usually kept in stations. You may ask to see the bottle the disinfectant comes in and make sure it has the right label.

- Don’t get those cuticles cut: Your cuticles are meant to protect your nails and so it is advisable that you don’t cut them when having you manicure or pedicure. It is better to have them pushed back with a cuticle stick that has its tip covered in a piece of cotton.
- Bring your own tools: It is better to bring to the salon, your own tools like buffer, file, nail brushes and cuticle stick. But since woods materials cannot be sterilized, these tools should be used once.
- Salon visit should not be painful: If your manicure or pedicure hurts, tell the salon technicians. At no time should the procedure hurt or sting.
